Mansfield celebrated another outstanding young adult with the awarding of the Eagle Scout rank to Robert Butler III last week. The celebration at the Mansfield Elks Lodge was attended by several local dignitaries, Scouting officials, Troop members, family and friends. Proclamations were presented by Senator James E. Timilty, and Representatives Elizabeth Poirier and Jay Barrows. Mansfield Selectmen George Dentino and Ann Baldwin extended the best wishes of the Selectmen and Mansfield.

For his project, Rob organized a toy drive before Christmas for the patients of Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence. The project was a huge success because of enthusiastic community participation and obvious from the smiles it generated at the Hospital.  Rob is also a member of Venture Crew 121 in Mansfield, sponsored by the First Baptist Church of Mansfield.

DataIcon1Mansfield Troop 51 Does Make A Difference !

HisHouse ClothingOn Saturday, October 27th, several scouts from Boy Scout Troop 51 worked to make a difference. The scouts organized and ran a clothing drive for HIS House, an outreach organization sponsored by the First Baptist Church in Mansfield. The scouts sorted through many bags of donations, and were able to fill 5 large racks with adult cold-weather clothing. Bins were also filled with hats, gloves, mittens, belts, and shoes. The clothing was distributed within a week, at local soup kitchens. Children’s and warm-weather clothing was also collected, and will be distributed at a later date.
